Colored Concrete

Throughout our lives, we are haunted by our past: in memories, actions, people, and places. At the most unexpected moments, fragments of something gone but not forgotten surface in our minds. In our attempts to capture these fragments, we dream of them, imagine them, fill in the gaps. We have dreams that are sometimes hard to distinguish from reality: you feel as if you can touch the walls of your home, shake hands with an old friend, or smell the scent of summer flowers. But all of this dissolves in the haze of daily life, and you find yourself back in the real world.

I created this project with the idea of capturing a fragment of my memories and how I see them now, after so many years. For this, I used photographs from my family archive, combining them with new photographs that I took on different types of film during 2023–2024. I wanted to convey the feelings I experience when walking along my childhood route, the sensation of a dream within reality, and that very nostalgia. The gray concrete has turned colorful.
